1_Exploring new bioresources
In our research group we have a strong background in the development of electrospun nanofibres and medical textiles using marine based products. At the same time, we are also developing several film formulations based on natural polymers, We are very interested in joining consortiums which are preparing projects related with the exploration of new bioresources to be used in several applications, namely: wound dressing and wound healing membranes, medical textiles, water filtration membranes, films for food pakaging.
The 2C2T was the first Unit of R&D in Portugal specialized in the area of Fibrous Materials and is recognized for excellent research in the field. 2C2T involves 24 integrated researchers, and present in average, per year: 8 books, 70 papers, 8 patents and more than 50 thesis. 2C2T is a well-equipped unit and a centre of excellence. One of their main objectives is the contribution to the development of scientific and technological knowledge resulting from materials engineering research, focused in the thematic lines of Nano and Multifunctional Materials, Sustainable and Advanced Processes.
