1_Exploring new bioresources
Our group has a significant experience in isolation of natural product from industrial wastes and by-products, evaluation of biological activity of natural plant secondary metabolites using animal cell technology as well as in biocatalysis for obtaining enantiomeric pure compounds. Currently, our research team is dedicated to preparation, characterization and implementation of green solvents with special emphasize on natural deep eutectic solvents in food technology, biotechnology and chemical technology. The laboratory is well equipped for above mentioned experiments (laminar flow, incubators, shakers, centrifuges, thermoshakers) as well as access to most analytic methods (UV-Vis photometer, fluorimeter, HPLC, GC/MS).
The project team from University of Zagreb is gather from The Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology which is the leading institution in the Republic of Croatia in terms of science, research and education in the fields of biotechnology, food technology and nutrition science. The Faculty comprises of 6 departments that have 27 laboratories and 7 sections including Department of Biochemical Engineering from which team members belong to.
