3_Exploring synergies across sectors
We would like to be a reliable partner in consortiums being formed by offering the expertise in fuel cell system technologies and the biogas/biofuels-to-energy transition. Considering topic number 3 of the ERA-NET Blue Bio call we see a potential to integrate a more efficient fuel cell system as part of the process chain "Waste to energy and fertilizer" which also could strengthen synergies between aquaculture, agriculture and the energy sector.
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft carries out applied research that drives economic developments and serves the wider benefit of society, working for and with an international network of partners and customers. Beside contractual research for industry, the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT also works with commercial enterprises in research projects co-funded by the German government and the European Union.
The Department Applied Electrochemistry has extensive expertise in electrochemical processes in fuel cells, as well as the equipment needed to carry out every conventional test on fuel cells and their components. Fuel cells are characterized by high efficiency, low noise, low emission of pollutants and high energy storage density. Additional research topics include energy systems and hybrid battery / fuel cell systems.
